Srinagar: Two local militants were killed in a military operation at the Awhatto area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday, officials said.
Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that both the slain militants were categorized and associated with JeM.
The duo was identified as Mohmmad Shafi Ganie, resident of Batpora, and Mohd Asif Wani aka Yawar resident of Takia Gopalpora, Kulgam. However, their age was not revealed by the authorities.
From their possession two AK rifles and ammunition have been recovered, the top cop added.
The CASO cordon and search operation was launched by a joint team of police, Army’s 34 RR, and CRPF (central reserve police force after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area, as per officials.
