Srinagar: Two ‘hybrid’ militants of Jaish were arrested in Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday and two pistols, two Pistol Magazines, 10 rounds of pistol and two Chinese grenades were recovered from them, J&K police said.
They have been identified as Aqib Mohd Mir, son of Mohd Ramzan Mir, resident of Batpora-Sopore and Danish Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar, resident of Chankan Sopore.
"An input was recieved through a reliable source about the movement of two militants in a vehicle moving towards Srinagar," a senior poilce officer said.
"A joint MVCPs of Police, army’s 29RR and 02 SSB were placed at various spots along the national highway and surrounding bylanes," he said.
The officer further said that a speeding Tavera, swerving in a suspicious manner, was signaled to stop however, the vehicle stopped abruptly and two individuals (Driver and Co-Driver) jumped off the vehicle and fled towards nearby wooded orchard area.
"The joint team party chased the individuals and were successfully nabbed."
So far in the investigation, it has transpired that the duo belong to JeM hybrid module and were looking to kill outsiders, he added.
A case has been registered in this regard and investigation has been initiated, the police officer concluded.
Hybrid is a newly coined term in the history of Kashmir Militancy that as per Police, stand for Civilains who carry out attacks like sleeper cells or OGWs (Over Ground Workers who provide logistic support to Militants) steeping on the another next level of extreme.
