Srinagar: Two alleged ‘hybrid’ militants, accused of attacking a YouTuber have been arrested by police in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.
In a statement, a spokesperson said during the investigation in a case with FIR No. 116/2022 U/S 307 IPC, 7/27 A Act and 16 UAP Act of Police Station Heerpora about a ‘militant’ attack on a YouTuber, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed.
Based on oral, circumstantial, and technical evidence, several suspects were rounded up, the police statement reads.
“During questioning, two suspects identified as Suhaib Reyaz, son of Reyaz Ahmad Mir, and Anayat Ullah Iqbal, son of Mohammad Iqbal Wani, both residents of Saidapora area in Payeen village admitted their involvement in the attack,” read the statement.
“It also came to fore that duo was working as hybrid militants of TRF,” it reads.
It added on their disclosure, the weapon of offense viz a pistol along with its magazine and five pistol rounds, besides an IED was recovered in the orchards of village Saidapora Payeen Shopian.
Further investigation of the case is underway, it said.
