SRINAGAR, Aug 26: Two undertrial prisoners who escaped from Central Jail Srinagar have been traced and apprehended in Rajasthan, police officials said on Wednesday, bringing the search for the two fugitives to an end.
The escapees — Farman Khan, a resident of Rajasthan, and Mukhtar Ahmad Gojar of Anantnag — were both facing trial under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, officials said.
According to police, the two were located in Rajgarh in Churu district of Rajasthan, where Srinagar Police, with assistance from their Rajasthan counterparts, carried out the operation and took them into custody.

Police officials said the operation followed coordinated efforts to track the movements and whereabouts of the two inmates after they escaped from Central Jail Srinagar.
The Srinagar Police teams have already left for Rajasthan to formally take custody of the two prisoners and bring them back to Srinagar, officials said.
They are expected to face further legal proceedings following their return.
The apprehension was carried out through coordination between police teams in Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan, officials added.
