Srinagar: Two dead bodies were found in two districts of Kashmir on Monday, one in Srinagar’s Bagh-e-Mehtab area and another in Zirpara area if south Kashmir’s Bijbehara.
A male body was found along the banks of river Jhelum near Zirpara Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district today, an official said.
“Some passers-by informed the police about the laying of the body along the banks of the Jhelum. Soon, a police party rushed to the spot and recovered the body. So far, they said, the identity of the deceased could be found and the same is being carried out,” he said.
The body, he said, has been shifted to the mortuary at GMC Anantnag.
“After completing medico-legal formalities and confirming the identification, the body would be handed over to his legal heirs,” he added.
Similarly, another unidentified body was spotted in Doodh Ganga stream in Bagh-e-Mehtab area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
“It is yet to be ascertained whether the body is of a male or female”, officials said adding police have been informed.
