Srinagar: The Eid-ul-Fitr prayers are unlikely to be held at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar on Saturday as the mosque management (Anjuman Auqaf) have not accepted the prayer timing proposed by the administration, sources said.

Sources said that the district administration had suggested timing for Eid prayer at Jama Masjid which was not agreed to by the management of the mosque.

It is unlikely that the Eid prayer will be held at the grand mosque. The Auqaf had announced that the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer will be offered at 09:00 am.

Authorities allowed Jumma-tul-Vida—the farewell Friday prayer of the holy month of Ramadan—at the Jama Masjid after four years on Friday. They also allowed night—long Shab-e-Qadr prayer for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370 (autonomous status) of Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August, 2019.
