Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that three ‘Uncategorised militants’ were arrested and one pistol, two grenades were seized from their possesion at fruit Mandi crossing in North Kashmir’s Handwara.
They have been identified as Manzoor Ahmed Kumar, son of Aziz Kumar-resident of Sagipora, Showkat Ahmed Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmed – resident of Khanu Babagund and third one’s name is withheld until his age is ascertained.
Police said joint parties of Police, Army 21 RR and 92 Bn CRPF laid a check posy at Fruit Mandi Crossing in Handwara during which the three persons were apprehended who tried to flee the spot.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the individuals were tasked to carry out militant attacks in Handwara.
A case under FIR No. 213/2022 u/s 13 UAPA and 7/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation has been started, reads the statement.
