Three Old Town Baramulla Residents Arrested as OGWs

Baramulla: Three alleged OGWs who are residents of Baramulla town were arrested on Thursday in north Kashmirโ€™s Baramulla district.

They have been identified as Owais Ahmad Waza, a resident of Ganie Hamam Baramulla; Basit Fayaz Kaloo, also from Ganie Hamam Baramulla; and Faheem Ahmad Mir from Mir Sahab Old Town Baramulla.

According to officials, they were implicated in aiding and providing information about the movement of forces to militants with intentions to target forces.

An official said that Baramulla Police received credible intelligence indicating that some unidentified associates affiliated with the banned LeT organization are moving into Baramulla town.

Subsequently, Police along with security forces arrested three โ€˜militant associatesโ€™ and recovered three hand grenades from their possession in Baramulla.

โ€œTheir objective was to disrupt the peace process in Baramulla ahead of the forthcoming Parliamentary elections, as directed by their handlers across the LOC,โ€ he said.

A case was registered at Police Station Baramulla under FIR No. 79/2024, citing sections of the UA(P) Act, and investigations commenced.ย
