Muzafarabad:ย Protests in Pakistan-controlled Kashmirโs Muzafarabad against inflation turned violent with three civilians being killed, over 100 injured, and dozens detained, according to the media reports.
The protests began on Friday as residents grappled with the rising costs of flour and other essentials, demanding an end to hefty electricity bills, arguing that power generated from local resources warrants subsidies for them.
Mobile services have been suspended in the region, with schools, public transportation, and businesses closed.
Hundreds of paramilitary troopers have been deployed in the region, and clashes between police and protesters have involved physical confrontations, with forces resorting to using rods, bullets, and tear gas.ย
