Srinagar: A couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in the Harwan area of Srinagar on Friday, following which the girl died while the boy is stated to be critical in the hospital.
Official sources said that a 17-year-old boy, a resident of Koker Mohalla Harwan hanged himself at his home, following which his family members rushed him to SKIMS Soura for treatment.
They said that the boy was having an affair with the girl and he is said to be in critical condition at the hospital.
The family said when the girl heard that his boyfriend has committed suicide, she (17) too hanged herself at her home in the Theed area of Harwan.
Soon after the incident, she was rushed to PHC Harwan by her family members, however, she had died at the health facility, they said.
There is no official confirmation of the reason for suicide so far.
