Taliban Dissolves Afghanistan’s Election Commission

The Taliban Govt has dissolved Afghanistan’s election commission panel that supervised polls during the previous Western-backed administration, says a spokesman for the government.

“There is no need for these commissions to exist and operate,” spokesman Bilal Karimi said on Saturday while referring to the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission.

If we ever feel a need, the Islamic Emirate will revive these commissions.”
 
The Taliban swept to power in August as a Western-backed government imploded in the final stages of a chaotic military withdrawal by the United States.
 
Taliban wants to implement Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, according to that – a group of Muslim scholars decides the leadership and not common people like in a democracy.
