Beerwah: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said that seven alleged ‘OGWs’ (over-the-ground-workers) have been arrested in Beerwah area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
According to the police, these accused individuals were engaged in spreading anti-India propaganda by placing posters in and around the Beerwah area.
The arrested persons have been identified as Romain Rasool Sheikh Irfan Nazir Sheikh, Rizwan Nazir Sheikh, Sahil Javid Sheikh all residents of Bonet in Beerwah, and Jahangir Bashir Mir, Tariq Ashraf Sheikh, both residents of Utligam, Beerwah and Shakir Lateef Pathan, resident of Gandhipora, Beerwah.
“The module, led by Romain Rasool Sheikh and Irfan Nazir Sheikh, was discovered to be influenced by a Pakistani handler associated with LeT, the Police statement reads.
“It was exposed that the duo, serving as local motivators, directed the other five persons to execute the assigned tasks."
Investigation in the case is in progress", the statement added.
