Srinagar: Deputy director meteorological department, Srinagar Mukhtar Ahmad on Tuesday said that there will be a partial solar eclipse in Jammu and Kashmir today which will start at around 4:15 pm and will remain till 5:45 evening.
He also said that after the sunset eclipse will disappear and as advised by different agencies people should not directly look towards the sun during the eclipse period.
Solar Eclipse or Surya Grahan occurs when the Moon comes between Sun and Earth and blocks the light of the sun, casting a shadow onto Earth. At that time, all three objects are in line, and a solar eclipse takes place on a new moon day. When the lunar disc partially obscures the solar disc, there will be a partial solar eclipse.
It is Pertinent to mention that as per the Kashmiri old tradition, pregnant women must refrain from using a pen or knife and should remain inside the room.
