Srinagar: All entry and exit points to the Kashmir Valley have been closed due to snowfall. The closure includes key routes such as the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) road, Razdan Pass, Pir Ki Gali, Zojjila Pass, and Sinthan Top.
These road closures include the Jammu-Srinagar Highway which serves as a vital link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. Simultaneously, the closure of the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) road disrupts connectivity between Kashmir and Ladakh. Razdan Pass, now inaccessible due to snow, plays a critical role in connecting Line of Control (LOC) villages in Gurez.
Similarly, Pir Ki Gali links the region with Pir Panchal’s Rajouri-Poonch area, while Sinthan Top serves as a crucial route connecting Chenab Valley’s Kishtwar.
An official said that the Jammu- Srinagar highway got blocked due to mudslides and shooting stones near the Mehar area after heavy rainfall in the area amid snowfall in Banihal.
The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) road has also been also closed due to snow accumulation, he said.
Also, the snowfall led to the closure of several roads including Razdan Pass, Pir Ki Gali, Zojjila Pass, and Sinthan Top, he added.
Reportedly, parts of Kashmir received a fresh spell of snowfall on Friday morning.
