Srinagar: The upper reaches of the Kashmir Valley on Monday received a fresh spell of snowfall forcing major mountainous highways to close while rains lashed plains, bringing down temperature further.ย

An official said that the higher reaches of the Valley including Razdan Pass (highway to Gurez Valley) Zojjila Pass (road to Ladakh), and Sinthan Top (connecting valley with Kishtwar) experienced snowfall, while the plains saw heavy rains.ย

He said that the continuous rain throughout the night and snowfall on Razdan, Zojjila and Sinthan Tops and surrounding areas forced the authorities to close several roads.

The Meteorological Department has forecasted intermittent rain and snowfall over higher reaches in Jammu and Kashmir for the next few days.
