A smoke grenade was lobbed at the house of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea (an ancient port and administrative city of Palestine, on the Mediterranean coast of present-day Israel, south of Haifa).
Israel Police said: “A bomb squad was called to investigate a suspicious device, which was identified as a smoke grenade thrown by protesters.”
Reportedly, anti-government protests were held on Thursday throughout Israel, with protesters calling for new elections and a ceasefire deal with Hamas to release hostages in Gaza.
About 3,000 Israeli citizens protested outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private house in Caesarea, according to media reports.
Protesters held signs blaming Netanyahu for the lack of progress in reaching a deal to free hostages held by Hamas since October 7.
In Jerusalem, where Netanyahu has another house, a crowd estimated at some 5,000 people marched from the Chords Bridge on the western edge of the city to Azza Street.
Protesters have called for more demonstrations in front of Netanyahu’s two houses in Jerusalem and Caesarea, as well as outside the homes of ministers and Knesset members from the Likud Party.
