SRINAGAR, Jan 3 โ€” A short circuit in an electric blanket triggered a fire in a three-storeyed residential house in Srinagarโ€™s HMT Shah Vilayat Colony during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, officials said.

The fire broke out in Sector 8 and was swiftly brought under control by Fire and Emergency Services, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building, they said.

โ€œA preliminary assessment before the cooling operation indicated that the electric blanket developed a short circuit, which led to sparking and ignition,โ€ an official said.

Firefighting operations were launched immediately after the incident was reported, and the blaze was contained within a short time, officials said.

The operation was led by Fire Incharge Mehraj-ud-Shah and supervised by Deputy Director Fire and Emergency Services Mir Aqib Hussain, while Mobilising Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah oversaw the deployment of personnel and equipment.

No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident, officials confirmed.ย
