Srinagar: The government of India (GOI on Friday directed the J&K administration led by LG Sinha to seize all the properties, bank accounts and finances assets of Geelani’s Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) and Masrat Alam’s led Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
As per the official notification of Union Ministry, the Muslim League J&K led by Separatist leader Masarat Alam Bhat was declared unlawful outfit on December 27, 2023, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir led by the late Separatist leader Geelani, under the same law.
“Now, therefore, in the exercise of the powers conferred by section 42 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Government hereby directs that all powers exercisable by it Under Section 7 and Section 8 of the said Act shall be exercised also by the State Governments and the administration with the above said unlawful association,” the notification reads.

Now, under the exercising power the State Governments and Union Territory administration conferred by Section 7 and Section 8 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the J&K administration will prohibit the use of funds and places used for ‘unlawful activities.’
Earlier on December 27, 2023, Union Ministry banned both separatist parties for five years, stating that it is fomenting militancy and spreading anti-India propaganda in the region.
Moreover, as the Home Ministry said that they aimed separate Jammu and Kashmir from India and establish Islamic rule in the region.
In addition to the report, Masarat Alam Bhat, who succeeded Geelani, is currently in jail for his anti-India activities.
