Russia has bombed Christian-majority villages in the west of Syria’s Idlib killing atleast seven civilians including five children and injured 13 others on Friday morning.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Russian warplane took off from the Khmeimim air base in Latakia and hit Al-Yacoubiyah and Judayda villages.
Russia has been carrying out air strikes in Syria since 2015, helping its ally President Bashar Al-Assad reclaim territory from opposition and militant groups.
The conflict of Syria started in 2011, when civilains protested to overthrow the Assad government which was retaliated by arrests and killings.
Later, US, Turkey, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Russia entered the battlefield. There are other militia groups ISIL, SDF fighting on different sides.
