PirPanchal: Five army personnel have been killed in the ongoing encounter (military operation) in the Kandi forest area of PirPanchal region’s Rajouri district on Friday as the Indian army says militants used an explosive during the operation.
According to army officials, the militants belong to the same group that ambushed an army truck in Poonch on April 20 in which at least five personnel were killed.
Three more army personnel who were injured during the ongoing encounter have succumbed to their injuries at Command Hospital Udhampur.

Earlier, Army in a statement said that two personnel were killed while three others including an officer have been injured after militants triggered an explosive during the anti-militancy operation in the Kandi forest area.
Notably, an encounter broke out between militants and forces in the Kandi forest area in Rajouri district on Friday morning.
Following the fierce gunfight, internet services were also suspended in the area as a precautionary measure, it added.
