Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCC&I) has condemned the โ€˜derogatoryโ€™ remarks against the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and urged people to maintain communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, the spokesperson of KCC&I said that members of the largest trade body condemned the derogatory comments against Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) and appealed the government to take strict action against fringe elements.

โ€œThe derogatory comments of fringe elements have brought shame to the country and threatened peace,โ€ the statement said.

โ€œWe appealed for strict action against miscreants aimed at polarising communities and vitiating brotherhood,โ€ the statement reads.

Appropriate action should be taken against those who take the law into their hands, the spokesperson said over the Bhaderwah clashes.

โ€œThe trade body also appealed to elders and the heads of the two communities to sit together to maintain the traditional harmony.โ€

โ€œThe members of KCC&I also urged people to not share any social media posts which may instigate any community.โ€
