Poonch: Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday announced compensation and ordered a “legal action” into the death of three civilians in Poonch.
As per reports, three locals identified as Safeer Hussain (43), Muhammad Showket (27) and Shabir Ahmad (32) were ‘found dead’ near the ambush attack site where five military personnel were killed on Thursday.
Reports indicate that the three deceased persons, residents of Topa Pir village in Poonch’s Bufliaz area among 12 people were picked by military forces for questioning.

Witnesses said that protests continue in the area with authorities suspending mobile internet services in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
In response to demands from J&K’s former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for compensation for the victims, the Jammu and Kashmir administration acknowledged the deaths through a post on X and announced legal measures alongside compensation for the families of the deceased. However, the government did not provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the three civilians.
The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) said that “Legal action in this matter has been initiated by the appropriate authority” and that the government has announced a compensation package for the deceased.
