Bijbehara/Vejibror: Police’s Special Investigation Unit on Wednesday raided two residential houses in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara against the militancy ecosystem including Over Ground Workers and supporters.
"The raids were conducted after obtaining search warrants from Hon’ble Court for two different locations in Anantnag district," Police said in a statement.
As per the Police, the residential houses of two persons, identified as Shahbaz Ahmad Thoker – Son of Mushtaq Ahmad Thoker -resident of Waghama, Bijbehara, and Subzar Ahmad Ganie – son of Farooq Ahmad Ganie – resident of Marhama Halimpora, Bijbehara were raided in following cases; FIR No. 137/2022 U/S 307 IPC, 7/27 Arms act, 16, 18, 20, 38, UA(P) Act, registered in Police Station Bijbehara. However, their age wasn’t mentioned in the statement.
"During raids, SIU Anantnag gathered relevant information and their role," the statement said without giving detailed information about the cases.
"Proper SOPs were followed during the raids," it reads.
"These raids are carried out to eliminate the militant ecosystem in the district by identifying various Over Ground Workers and supporters of militancy. It will continue in the future as a logical conclusion of all UAPA (The Unlawful Activities Prevention Act)
cases are must," it added.
