Police Files Charge Sheet Against Locals For Housing Rohingyas

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmirโ€™s administration has intensified the crackdown against Rohingyas as Police file seven charge sheets against locals for providing shelter to Refuugess, a police official said on Tuesday.

As per the police officials, the FIRs were lodged at different police stations of Jammu region Satwari, Trikuta Nagar, Bagh-e-Bahu, Channi Himmat, Nowabad, Domana and Nagrota.

Besides charge sheets, officials also raided different residential places where the Rohingyas are housed.ย

The Police source also alleged that during the raids, several illegal Indian documents like PAN cards, Adhaar cards,and bank documents material were seized.

In addition to the report, in March 2021 Authorities at Jammu region also detained more than 150 Rohingiya refugees, after court spell out them as โ€˜illegal immigrantsโ€™ while responding to the Petition led by BJPโ€™s Law In-charge Advocate Hunar Gupta.

Furthermore, as per the official data, around 6000-7000 Rohingya are living in the Jammu region, after arriving in the region between 2017-18.
