Police Detain Srinagar Resident For Posting Hateful Comments Against Slain DSP

Srinagar: J&K Policeโ€™s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Monday detained a Kashmir resident for posting hateful/abusive comments against slain DSP Humayun Muzammil.

CIK said that an Instagram user had been identified for disseminating content containing derogatory remarks and offensive posts regarding the martyred Dy. SP of J&K Police, Humayun Muzammil. DSP Muzammil tragically lost his life in a recent encounter. "Upon closer scrutiny of the individualโ€™s social media activities, it was discovered that the user was also sharing content that glorified terrorism, issued threats to security forces, and engaged in name-calling."

The user has been identified as Irfan Malik (43) operator in JustDial by profession, son of Ab Rashid Malik and a resident of Chotta Bazar Srinagar.

The social media user has been booked and detained under relevant provisions of law in FIR No. 07 /2023 of Police Station CID CIK.

The FIR is under investigation into the acts of abusing social media, threatening members of security forces and glamorizing terrorism etc.

Sources said that many such users are under the scanner of CIK and more arrests are expected on the identification of such users.
