Anantnag: J&K Police on Saturday booked two religious clerics for their inflammatory language against the Shia community during the holy month of Muharram in South Kashmirโs Anantnag district.
it is pertinent to mention that many videos of Veeri went viral on social media in which he was asking people to refrain from hosting Muharram flags or wearing black bands during the holy month, while promoting sectarian divide.

In a statement, the police said that the department has taken decisive action against two religious clerics, Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri and Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, for using inflammatory language targeting a specific community.

According to a police spokesman, the derogatory remarks made by the clerics were brought to the attention of the Anantnag Police, who promptly initiated proceedings under the relevant provisions of the law.

โAnantnag Police are committed to maintaining communal harmony and ensuring the safety of all citizens. We urge the public to report any instances of hate speech or inflammatory language to the authorities immediately,โ he said.
