Srinagar: Baramulla Police have arrested a person accused of selling fake Gondola tickets at the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Gulmarg on Saturday, Kashmir Walla reported.
In a statement, Police said that it received a written complaint from Manager Gulmarg Gondola Project wherein he stated that today, a ticket checker caught two tourists with a fake gondola ticket.
“On inquiry, the tourists stated that some tourist guide has sold them these tickets at a cost of Rs 2500 per ticket. To this effect a case with an FIR was registered under relevant sections of law in police station Gulmarg and investigation was set in motion,” it said.
“During the course of investigation, the statement of the tourist was recorded and after strenuous efforts, a tourist guide namely Aashiq Hussain Magray S/O Ab Rashid Magray R/O Shrai Tangmarg was taken into custody and an investigation was set into motion,” police said.
“During the investigation, it was revealed by the alleged fraudster that their modus operandi is to pre-book gondola tickets and then sell them to gullible tourists at exorbitant rates,” it reads.
Police requested tourists to be aware of such fraudsters.
