Srinagar: All J&K Patwar Association (Revenue officials) have deferred their pen-down strike on Saturday and urged the LG administration to fulfill their demands within a month after holding several meetings with the adminstration.
Addressing a press conference, AJKPA president Abdul Majeed Malla said that after a series of “online and offline” meetings with the administration, we urged govt to fulfill demands within a month.
“A series of deliberations were held with the administration where we (Govt & Patwaris) both placed our positions. The government asked for three months, but we gave a month to resolve our genuine demands,” he said.
Malla said they have not permanently called off their strike but only deferred it by a month.
“We have proved that 100 percent of primary members were supporting the strike and that they should not be tested again otherwise we will be compelled to go back to the strike,” he said.
The AJKPA president further said, “The government has declared all our demands as genuine and also shared minutes of meeting with us. They have asked for the time to solve our demands within a stipulated time.”
On March 1, 2023, Patwairs called for an indefinite strike and refused to resume their duties till their demands were not met.
The demands include a grade pay raise for Graduate Patwaris from 2400 to 2800, a timely Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of Patwaris, a ban on direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars to provide career progression for Patwaris, and enhancement of Patwaris’ allowances.
