Srinagar: Unknown gunman shot dead an independent Panch (a member of a Panchayat) at Kulpora, Srandroo area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday evening.
The panch was identified as Mohammad Yaqoob Dar, a resident of Kulpora area of Srandroo village, Kulgam.
An official said unknown gunmen fired upon at Panch in Srandroo area of Kulgam.

He was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries, he said.
However, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kulgam, Dr. Muzaffar Zargar said the panch was brought dead to the hospital.
Moreover, the officials said that the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers and further investigation has been taken up.
