Srinagar: A Pakistani militant was killed along the Line of Control in the Sudpora area of Kupwara district on Wednesday, police said in a tweet.
"A foreign terrorist was killed near LoC in Kupwara," Kashmir zone police tweeted.
The deceased was affiliated with the LeT armed group and identified as Mohammad Shakoor, son of Mohammad Yaqoob – a resident of the Syedpora Leepa area in Kashmir held by Pakistan.
The operation was launched by a joint team of Police, Army (3/8 GR) and during the CASO, an infiltrator was challenged by the joint party and started firing indiscriminately leading to an encounter.
"Incriminating materials and arms/ammunition including 01 AK-47 rifles (short), 02 AK-47 Magazines, 01 Pistol (9mm), 02 Pistol Magazines, 9mm 45 rounds, 02 Chinese Grenades, Pakistani Currency, Identity Card, etc. have been recovered from his possession."
