Jammu: A day after the delimitation commission proposed the creation of six additional assembly seats in Jammu and only one for Kashmir, an important meeting of Peoples Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) has started at the Jammu residence of the National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah.
Former Chief Ministers of the erstwhile state of J&K including and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti, JKNC Chief Farooq Abdullah, and other leaders of the PAGD reportedly attended the meet.
The PAGD is a consortium of mainstream political parties, which have been seeking the restoration of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which was revoked by the Narendra Modi-led Centre back in August 2019.
The parties include the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist)
The meeting has started at a crucial time when the delimitation commission presented its draft report which draw a sharp reaction from all political parties in Kashmir.
