Srinagar: The residents of Zaffran Colony in Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, are facing a billing quandary as online statements from KPDCL cite an unexplained "open balance," indicating pending payments. However, locals say that their bills were cleared.

Farooq Ahmad, 60, the president of a local mosque, informed The Himalayan Post that there were no pending previous bills and that the entire Pantha Chowk area is grappling with these hefty bills, causing confusion among the residents.

“Our area was the first to be equipped with smart meters and cables, and we have cooperated well. However, we don’t understand what they are charging for,” he said.

“It’s a lie; all of our bills are clear," he said, adding that the officials aren’t clearing the confusion.

He said that the residents have already informed AEE Chief Engineer at KPDCL, Pantha Chowk, but they haven’t paid any heed.

“I hope they respond soon,” he added.

The Himalayan Post attempted to call AEE Pantha Chowk, but he didn’t respond.
