Anantnag: One person accused of being an OGW (Over Ground Worker) was arrested along with a pistol at a check post laid by Police and Army at Hutmura Sandoz Crossing in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.
He has been identified Fazial Ahmad Wagay, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Wagay, resident of Chak Hassan Abad area in Hutmara, Anantnag. His age was not mentioned in the statement.
In a statement, the police said that he was arrested at a check post laid by police and army’s 3rd Rashtriya Rifles on inputs of his movement at the crossing in Hutmara Sandoz area.
“He was apprehended from Chak Hassan Abad side when he tried to flee upon seeing the check post,” police said as per the statement.
“The party displayed extreme restraint by not firing in air,” it said.
“The security forces chased him and trapped the suspect.”
“During frisking, one Pistol and a magazine with six live rounds were recovered from his possession,” it reads.
“The same was planned to be used for targeted killing,” police said according to their statement.
A case with (First Information Report) FIR No 78/2022 under section 7/25 Arms Act 16,18,39 UAPA (UNLAWFUL ACTIVITIES (PREVENTION) ACT) has been registered in Police Station Mattan, Anantnag and further investigation underway.
