Poonch: An OGW (Overground Worker) was arrested along with a pistol in the Mendhar area of Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch district on Sunday evening, police said.
A joint cordon and search operation was launched by police and Army in the Salwa and Behra area of Mendhar, Police said in a statement.
"During the search operation one person namely Tayab Khan, son of Mohd Khalil Khan and a resident of Salwa, who was coming from the forest area was asked to stop but he tried to run away," the statement said.
"However, he was apprehended and a pistol, eight rounds were recovered from his possession," it said.
“In this regard, a case in FIR 298/2022 under sections 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 18/23 UAPA Act, 120/121/122 IPC (Indian Penal Code) has been registered in police station Mendhar and investigation has been taken up,” it reads.
