Kupwara: Government Forces including the Indian army and J&K Police on Sunday arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) along with a grenade at a checkpoint in the Kralpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
In a statement, J&K police said that a joint team of Kupwara Police along with the Army established a checkpoint at the main market Karlpora after receiving intelligence inputs and arrested an ex-militant who has been working as an OGW from the Kralpora area of the district.
A grenade was recovered from his possession, it said.
The accused has been identified as Rafiq Ahmad Khan, son of Habib Ullah Khan and a resident of Waterkhani Drugmulla Kupwara. However, his age was mentioned in the statement.
“Rafiq is a surrendered Pakistan trained militant, who is now working as an OGW for HM,” police said, adding that during preliminary investigations, he revealed that the “grenade was received by him from the Chogul area of Handwara and was to be delivered to someone in Kralpora area on the instructions of his Pakistan based HM handler against at security forces.”
A case under relevant provisions of the UA(P) Act has been registered in Police Station Kralpora and investigations have been taken up, police said.
