Non-Local Laborer’s Killing: Police Arrests Brick Kiln Owner Over ‘Non-Compliance’

Budgam: Days after the killing of a non-local labourer at a brick kiln in central Kashmir’s Budgam, police on Monday arrested the brick kiln owner for ‘negligence and non-compliance of government orders.’

Police said that Mohammed Yousuf Mir, resident of Chattergam who is the owner of the brick kiln where the non-local labourer was killed by suspected militants was arrested under FIR number 102/2022  at Police Station Chadoora.

Police have warned all the brick kiln owners and managers to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the government/administration to ensure the safety of the labourers working in their respective units, Police said in a statement without further explanation.  

When The Himalayan Post tried to reach the concerned SHO (Station House Officer)to know what guidelines the owner failed to follow, he did not answered calls on the following case. The story will be updated, if he responds.

On 2 June, suspected militants fired upon labourers at a brick kiln, in the attack two non-local labourers were injured and one of them succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital.

The deceased was identified as Dilkhush Kumar, a resident of Gaon Ladugarh, Purina in Bihar.  

In case of non-compliance or any negligence, police said strict action is warranted under law.
