NIA Says Seized Kokernag Property Belongs to Accused OGW

Kokernag, January 3, 2025: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) stated that the 19 marlas of land attached in Kokernag belong to Mohammad Akbar Dar, an alleged overground worker (OGW) and a chargesheeted accused in a Jammu and Kashmir encounter case involving Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and local militant Uzair Khan.

In a statement, NIA said: โ€œDar, an OGW of Uzair Khan, was accused of providing logistical support, shelter, food, and intelligence to the terrorist. The property, measuring 19 marlas in the Halpora Kokernag area of Anantnag, was seized under Section 25(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P)A).โ€

In the encounter, Khan and four personnel were killed.ย

โ€œDar was arrested on September 20, 2023, following the recovery of 40 AK-47 live rounds and other incriminating materials from his residence.โ€

The NIA chargesheeted Dar in March 2024 before its Special Court in Jammu under multiple sections of the IPC, Arms Act, and UA(P)A.ย
