Shopian: A newly recruited local militant affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba armed group was killed and an army personnel was injured on Monday in an encounter (military operation) at the apple orchards of Heff-Shirmal village in Zainapora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said.
The slain militant has been identified as Aqib Ahmad pall, son of Mohammed Akram Pall -resident of Drawani Imamsahib, Shopian. Police also said that the militant was newly recruited as he had joined militancy on 05 September this year. However, his age was not revealed by the authorities.
Besides that the army personnel of 44 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) was injured who has been shifted to 92 base hospital Srinagar for treatment.

The operation was launched by a joint team of police, Army and CRPF (Central Police Reserve Force) after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.
Moreover, an official said that more troops were deployed to the encounter site and search operation underway.
