Udhampur: J&K police on Thursday said that 250 grams of heroin and cash of nearly two crore rupees were seized from two persons and one of the two accused died after being hit by a vehicle, while another one was arrested in J&Kโs Udhampur district.
The decased has been identified as Mukhtiar Ahmed, son of Khalil ur Rehman, resident of north Kashmirโs Kupwara and another accomplice as Jagtar Singh, Son of Jarnail Singh, resident of Punjab
In a statement, police said that a patrolling party of police station Udhampur which was on duty near Gole Mela patrol pump noticed two persons moving in a suspicious manner on Wednesday.
โBoth persons ran towards main road and one person was knocked down by an unknown vehicle and got seriously injured, the on duty police immediately shifted him to the district hospital and doctors referred to GMC Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries,โ police statement said. ย
โAs the vehicle was searched, heroine approximately 250 gm was found along with huge cash amounting to Rs 1, 91, 34, 030 of different denominations was recovered,โ the statement reads.
โA case under relevant sections has been registered and investigation has been set into motion,โ the statement added.
โPreliminary investigation reveals that both the persons were involved in the narco trade. However, detailed investigation of the case is going on,โ it added.
