Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said a ‘Hybrid’ militant of Lashkar-i-Toiba has been arrested in the Juhama area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed his identity as Shahid Ahmad Parray son of Gh Ahmad Parray, a resident of Kathpora Hajin, District Bandipora, police said in a statement.
A Pistol with a Pistol magazine, 07 rounds & 2 hand grenades were recovered from his possession, as per police.

“He was apprehended on a check post near Juhama Crossing by joint parties of Police and Army 52 RR,” police said.
“The party observed the suspicious movement of one unknown person who was coming towards Kanispora. He tried to flee from the spot. However, the individual was tactfully apprehended,” the statement reads.
“The individual failed to justify the possession of these arms/ ammunition. After further interrogation, he disclosed that he was working as a hybrid militant for the banned outfit (LeT) Lashkar e Toiba,” the statement said.
Case FIR No. 107/2022 under section 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 13, 16, 18, UA (P) Act has been registered in PS Baramulla, and an investigation has been initiated into the case, the statement added.
‘Hybrid’ militants is a newly coined term in the history of Kashmir militancy, which according to police are undercover Militants and carry out attacks like sleeper cells.
