Srinagar: Srinagar residents of Zafran Colony and its adjoining areas decry power shutdown in the scorching temperature on Tuesday and expressed anger against the government and the PDD (Power Development Department) as a result the residents say they are facing an acute shortage of drinking water. Patients and the elderly are also suffering in absence of power supply.
PDD officials however say that it was a temporary shutdown as new wires are being laid to connect newly installed transformers.
“For the past three days, we have had no electricity and we get drinking water only when power is available, said Gulzar Ahmed, a resident of Zafran Colony, Srinagar.
He said that power breaking down has causer huge inconvenience to people especially elderly in the wake of rising day temperature.
Elderly people of the area appealed LG Manoj Sinha to intervene and address the issue stating that there is an acute water shortage in the area due to power shutdown.
Meanwhile, a PDD official said cut was temporary and power will be restored by 5 pm.
We are laying new wires and connecting new transformers. We request people to bear," he said.
