Sopore: Kashmir Transporters including Sumo (Cab) unions in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday warned of an indefinite strike against the administration’s move to accommodate illegal cabs in the general bus stand.
President graduate minibus owner, Abdul Hameed said that the administration’s move of allowing 400-500 illegal sumo’s in the general bus stand in Sopore is unacceptable.
"Will go to any extent, but will not allow the administration to do this, as this move will affect us,” he said.
It is not possible to have three stands in the same location, transporters said.
"We were not taken on board, this is an unacceptable move. The move may have every apprehension of internal clashes between the transporters,” said Abdul Majeed, president of the Sumo stand union.
Similarly, the traders federation Sopore has also opposed the move of accommodating illegal sumos in the bus stand.
Meanwhile, the transporters demanded that the order should be immediately revoked and they should also be taken on board.
On Monday, the administration issued a formal order after a review meeting to streamline traffic in the town by rehabilitating all types of vehicles.
