Srinagar: Mughal road, Pir Ki Gali areas which connect south Kashmir’s Shopian district to Pir Panchal region’s Poonch district and Warna area in Chenab region’s Kishtwar district received the season’s first snowfall on Tuesday evening.
Moreover, the Meteorological department predicted dry weather till October 18 evening.
"This season’s first snowfall was received today in Kashmir’s higher reaches," officials in the department said.
A few areas including Mughal road, Pir ki Gali and Warwan received light snowfall, they said.
Deputy Director MeT, Mukhtar Ahmad also said that light snowfall would occur at some higher reaches today, but the weather conditions would improve soon.
Mughal road is the second highway route to Kashmir valley which passes over the Pir Panjal Mountain range, at an altitude of 11,500 ft (3505 m), higher than the Banihal pass (2832 m) Jammu-Srinagar highway or NH-44.
