Srinagar: Mobile Internet have been suspended in parts of Srinagar after shutdown and clashes were reported against JKLF (Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front) chief Yasin Malik’s punishment of life imprisonment by NIA (National Investigation Agency) court on Wednesday.
Srinagar residents told The Himalayan Post that their mobile internet is not working. However, the administration has not issued any official order on the internet accessibility.
"Not only the speed is reduced but the mobile internet is completely shut. Not a single social media application is working," a resident of Karan Nagar said.
Stone pelting and protest demonstrations were also reported from a few places across Srinagar city and the police had to resort to firing tear gas shells.
Srinagar also observed a shutdown in anticipation of verdict including the commercial hub Lal Chowk.
The NIA (National Investigation Agency) court on Wednesday pronounced life imprisonment punishment to Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief and Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik in various cases.
Mr. Malik pleaded guilty before court stating that he is not contesting charges against him.
