Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that militants managed to escape from an encounter (military operation) after a brief exchange of fire in the Reban area of Zainapora, South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A top police officer said that after the initial contact was established with the militants, there was a complete lull in the firing from both sides.
“The searches continued throughout the night, however, no militant was found at the encounter site. It seems that due to darkness militants managed to escape,” the officer added.
Reportedly, on the intervening night of Monday- Tuesday, a military operation raged in Reban.
