Kulgam: An unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter (military operation) that broke out between militants and government forces at Awhatoo area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday, officials said.
The CASO (cordon and search operation) was launched by a joint team of police, Army’s 34 RR, and CRPF (central reserve police force) after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area, as per officials.
During the exchange of fire, one militant has been killed while the identification is yet to be ascertained.
Two militants were believed to be trapped at the encounter site.
