Srinagar: The meteorological department predicts light rain and snowfall in isolated upper reaches of the Kashmir Valley from January 25.
According to Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, the Director of MeT, ‘Dry weather is expected to persist until January 24. Following that, light rain and snowfall are forecasted from January 25, lasting for two days.’
He further adds that different models indicate the possibility of light to moderate rain/snow at many places in the Kashmir Valley from January 29-31.
However, this prediction is subject to change over time.
Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir, recorded its lowest temperature at -4.9 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund, the gateway town of the valley in South Kashmir, also recorded a minimum temperature of -5.0°C.
Pahalgam, Kashmir’s famous tourist resort, experienced a chilling -6.3°C. Kokernag also recorded a minimum night temperature of -1.4°C.
In addition, the Jammu region recorded a minimum temperature of 5.0°C, while Banihal reported a low temperature of -0.8°C.
