Srinagar: A man was arrested for allegedly throwing the holy Quran into the water at a Masjid in the Gojwara area of Srinagar city on Saturday, Police said.
The accused has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Mir and a resident of the Maloora area in Srinagar.
"An Incident of sacrilege took place in Khan Masjid Gojwara, wherein a person threw Quran Sharif in water." Police said in a tweet
"The person seems mentally unsound. Case registered in Nowhatta Police station under relevant sections," it added.
