Shopian, May 3 — A 58-year-old man was found dead in an orchard in the Urpora Nagbal area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Ab Rashid Dar, son of Ab Ganie Dar, a shopkeeper by profession.
Locals spotted the body hanging from an apple tree and alerted the police, following which a team reached the spot and took the body into custody.
“We received information from locals and a team was immediately dispatched. The body was taken for necessary legal procedures,” an official said.
Police have initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
