Kupwara: Two more militants were killed in an encounter (anti-militancy operation) in the Lolab area of Kupwara district taking the toll of slain militants to four, police said Monday.
Earlier on Sunday, Police said Two Pakistani militants were killed in the lolab forests of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
However, the identities of the neutralized militants are still being ascertained.
A senior police officer said that two more militants were killed in the operation while incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered.
He said the encounter started after the forces launched an operation in the Lolab area of the north Kashmir on the instance of an arrested militant.
"During the search of the hideouts, the hiding terrorists fired upon the force personnel who retaliated, in which two militants were killed," he said.
The official said the group affiliation of the slain militants is likely Lashkar-e-Tobia while their identity is being ascertained. The searches are in progress and further details are awaited, the officer added.
